Is love louder than the pressure to be perfect?

"Love is Louder was started bThe Jed Foundation, +MTV and Brittany Snow to support anyone feeling mistreated, misunderstood or alone. It’s hundreds of thousands of people just like you who have turned this idea into a movement.  A movement of all types of people who have come together to raise the volume around the message that love and support are louder than any internal or external voice that brings us down.

Individuals, communities, schools and organizations have embraced Love is Louder as a way to address with issues like bullying, negative self-image, discrimination, loneliness and depression.  Even as we work to stop negative words and actions that hurt us, we can strengthen our abilities to cope with hard times, focus on the positive, support the people around us and reach out for help if we need it." Is love louder than the pressure to be perfect? We've all seen them, the pictures of the celebrities that have words written on their hands saying "love is louder than the pressure to be perfect." Lately i've been thinking though and I have realized that love isn't actually louder than the pressure to be perfect. Being a teenage girl in the dance world has really shown that to me. There is so much pressure to be perfect but on teens in this world. You need to be skinny, but not too skinny. You need to be pretty, but you can't put on a ton of makeup. You need to be talented, but not better than the people who already excel in that field. You need to be smart, but not to smart or you would be "nerdy." You need to be happy, but not happy all the time because that "makes you fake." You need to be so many things, but not too many...you need to be "perfect."

After all that pressure to be perfect the only love is from those people in our lives that sit there and tell us "you are perfect just the way you are" or "you're perfect to me" or crap like that, but at the end of the day, we don't see ourselves though their eyes, we see ourselves though our own eyes. Sadly but truly our eyes have been tainted by society's vision of perfect, and that is what we aspire to be–– an impossible perfect. When you think about it and get down to the facts there is no such thing as the perfection we see in celebrities or even people we think are perfect in our everyday lives.

Take Miranda Kerr for example:

A women excels in her field of modeling and is exceptionally gorgeous, she has bright blue eyes, beautiful brown locks and a beach ready body. But you know what, she can't run the mile in 5 minutes like some people, she can't sit down and ace an essay about Moby Dick in 20 minutes, She can't do 600 push ups in a row, and even she can't be happy all the time. Im sure she has those days when she would love to just sit down and have a nice bigmac with a side of large fries and a milk shake but she can't because somehow it goes against society to have an overweight women modeling lingerie. Her love for that fatty food is not louder than the pressure to be perfect because she clearly does not eat them.
Even just as an example you could think about that with anybody as an example.

I guess the point that i'm trying to make is that love truly isn't louder than the pressure to be perfect. If it was, we would all be celebrating our thunder thighs and love handles, we would be flaunting our beautiful makeup free faces, and sure as hell we would be applying ourselves to be the best that we could be. However.......thats clearly not the case so the answer to my original question is no, love is not louder than the pressure to be perfect. Don't get me wrong, I love what this organization is doing, but in all honesty as I have just shown, love is not louder than the pressure to perfect.

Just something to think about...
